The Federation Accounts Allocation Committee, (FAAC), has accused the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, [NNPC] of failing to remit $1.48 billion dollars into the federation account as directed by Pricewaterhousecoopers (PWC) in its audit of the corporation’s accounts. At its last meeting, FAAC had, constituted a committee to find out the reasons for the delay in making the funds available to the three tiers of government. This contradicts claims by the Minister of Petroleum Resources, Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke, that the NNPC had begun refunding the money into the federation account as recommended by the audit firm. PWC was last year hired to carry out the exercise following an allegation by the former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Lamido Sanusi, who is now the Emir of Kano, that $20 billion dollars had not been remitted to the federation account by the NNPC.  SOURCE SCANNEWS.

Police arrest 56 persons for cultism in Benin The police have arrested 56 persons for alleged involvement in cult-related killings in Benin, Edo State. A Special crack squad deployed by the Inspector-General of Police, Solomon Arase, apprehended the suspects, including 11 men who were said to be highly placed persons. A statement by the Force Public Relations Officer, Emmanuel Ojukwu in Abuja on Thursday, stated that the suspects who were arrested from different locations in the state, are currently undergoing interrogation. A strange radio station 'Radio Biafra' has has hit the airwaves in Rivers State with a dial of 88.0 Fm Channel out of an unknown location, DailyPost reports. The location of the radio station as well as its mode of operation is yet to be ascertained. The radio station has only one familiar voice, the ‘Director’, who frequently refers to the listeners as the Indigenous People of Biafra. He consistently makes comments pitching the North and the West against the Niger-Delta, stressing people of the Niger-Delta were being “enslaved in Nigeria” which he refers to as a “zoo”. FIVE Boko Haram terrorists undergoing training in Iraq were on Wednesday, May 13, 2015, killed by a vigilance group, the Mosul Youth Resistance Movement. According to agency reports, the Boko Haram members were said to have been receiving training from the Islamic State terror group (ISIS) before their death in the Dargaza area of Eastern Mosul. “The Nigerian Boko Haram militants were in Mosul to take part in a military training course conducted by Islamic State (IS),” spokesperson for the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP), Saed Mamuzini reportedly said. Boko Haram pledged its allegiance to ISIS in March via an audio statement. The group’s leader, Abubakar Shekau, is believed to be on the run. Kaduna State Governor-elect, Malam Nasiru El-Rufai, on Wednesday alerted the general public to apprehend any person soliciting for fund in his name. The alert, sent out in a statement in Kaduna by Mr Samuel Aruwan, the governor-elect's spokesperson, said such persons were criminals and should be treated as such.
